Sugaring is hair removal with a paste of sugar, lemon and water. That’s the whole recipe. The paste goes on warm, about body temperature, and it grabs the hair while leaving your skin alone. Because it comes out the way the hair grows, you get less breakage, fewer ingrowns, and hair that comes back finer and slower.
What to expect
- I cleanse and lightly powder the area
- Paste goes on against the grain and comes off with it, in quick flicks. No strips
- Most areas take 15 to 45 minutes
- A calming finish to settle the skin
Before you come
- Hair should be about a quarter inch, roughly two weeks of growth
- Exfoliate a day or two before, and skip it on the day
- No lotion or oils on the area that day
- Come as you are. I promise nothing surprises me
Afterwards
- No heat, sweat or sun on the area for 24 hours
- Loose clothes today
- Gentle exfoliation after 48 hours, then a couple times a week

Does sugaring hurt?
A little, the first time. That first visit is the most you’ll ever feel, and it gets easier every visit as the hair thins out.
What’s the difference between sugaring and waxing?
Wax sticks to your skin as well as the hair and gets pulled off against the grain. Sugar only sticks to the hair and comes off with the grain, so there’s less pulling and less redness afterward, and people with sensitive skin tend to do fine with it.
How long does it last?
Three to five weeks. Stick with it and that stretches longer, because regular sugaring thins the hair over time.
Bikini or Brazilian?
Bikini is the sides and the top line, the part a swimsuit would show. Brazilian is everything, front to back.
